Northeast Texas Medical Reserve Corps

MRC Units across the country were founded after President Bush's 2002 State of the Union Address, in which he asked all Americans to volunteer in support of their country.  MRC Units are a specialized component of Citizen Corps, a national network of volunteers dedicated to ensuring hometown security.  MRC Units promote volunteerism nationwide and are a part of the Surgeon General's office in Washington, D.C.

MRC Units are community -based and function as a way to locally utilize volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year.  MRC Units are recognized all across the nation and include both medical and non-medical professionals.  Being a part of the MRC allows us to come together as a group to help where we are needed.  For example, several MRC Units were called upon to respond to Louisiana after the hurricanes last year.
